Electric Motorcycles Reshaping Off-Road Riding

Electric motorcycles are revolutionizing off-road riding with their quiet operation and instant torque. In Europe, where noise regulations are forcing many bikes off the trails, electric off-roaders could be a game-changer for riders. The introduction of new models, whether electric or traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) bikes, is always a positive development.

One of the latest electric dual-sport bikes to hit the market is the Moto X from Alien Rides. This San Francisco-based electric mobility specialist has designed an electric dirtbike that prioritizes fun and enjoyment. Like other electric off-roaders, the Moto X offers instant power delivery for an exhilarating ride. Alien Rides claims the bike can reach a top speed of 70 miles per hour and provides a classic riding experience with its four-speed gearbox and clutch.

The Moto X is equipped with a DC permanent magnet synchronous motor that has a nominal power output of three kilowatts. However, it can deliver a maximum power of 16 kilowatts, equivalent to around 21.4 horsepower in ICE terms. The bike features a powerful 72-volt, 60-ampere-hour battery pack that offers a range of up to 49 miles on a single charge. It only takes four hours to fully charge the battery. The Moto X also includes an ANT Smart Battery Management System (BMS) with smartphone integration through a dedicated app compatible with iOS and Android devices.

While other electric dirtbikes are designed solely for off-road use, the Moto X is street legal. Alien Rides states that the bike complies with US DOT regulations, allowing owners to register it. This means the Moto X is equipped with headlights, turn signals, and a digital speedometer. It also has a hydraulic braking system on both the front and rear wheels. Additionally, by mid-December, AR will offer street-focused wheels and tires, enabling Moto X owners to transform their dirtbikes into road-ready electric supermotos.

The AR Moto X comes with a price tag of $7,500. Customers who want fast-charging capabilities can purchase an optional fast charger. There is also a $400 shipping fee on top of the retail price, but free local pickup is available in San Francisco. For more information, visit Alien Rides' official website.
