The term "custom" holds different meanings for different individuals. Whether you enjoy bolt-on modifications or physically shaping metal to your liking, it is impossible not to admire someone like Scott, an absolute maniac from England who goes by the name 'Scott's Crazy Builds' and shares his love for creating maniacal jet-powered creations with the world.
Prior to the Jetbike featured in this video, Scott had built a jet-powered sled, or sledge as he calls it. (Apologies, we are American and prefer shorter words.)
After the Jetbike, he has been working on a Jetkart and has been posting build videos on his YouTube channel for interested viewers to follow along. We have included a link to his channel in our Sources section so you can check it out if you want to learn more.
However, this video is not about those builds. In this video, British dirtbike channel 999Lazer meets up with Scott to provide a complete walkthrough of the Jetbike startup process. To put it simply, it is both loud and hot.
You can get a small taste of the loudness if you listen with headphones, but the heat is on another level. According to Scott, he measured an under-seat afterburner temperature of 115 degrees Celsius (or approximately 239 degrees Fahrenheit), which prompted him to further modify his design by adding a heat shield. After all, you don't know what you don't know until you learn, right?
The startup procedure involves multiple steps and requires a careful mixture of gasoline (or petrol) and diesel to run properly. Starting up the bike and getting it to idle may seem quieter than expected, but that is because the afterburner is not constantly engaged.
The entire concept may seem absolutely insane, but it is also the kind of thing that makes us grateful for the existence of the Internet. It is how we discovered it, and it is how we are sharing it with you.
If given the opportunity, would you dare to ride this bike? It appears to be more than slightly terrifying, but we are glad that someone had the audacity to build it. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
